punch-drunk love
interesting directing technique by P.T. Anderson
The movie starts with silent scenes.
It's funny how, even there's no music you know there's something wrong, special or whatever going to happen. And after a long quiet moment, there comes the car crash (symbolizing that there're new things 'crashing' into your life?!) and the harmonium dropping right in front of Barry from no where. The music doesn't begin until he reaches the harmonium which is played through out the movie.
Silence has so much emotion. If you just take time to listen, silence is a kind of music.
maybe...sometimes...we should all try to leave the emptiness alone...
stop filling colours into the inside of the black outline or to the white 'spaces'...
stop putting unnecessary music whenever you think silence is awkward...
enjoy the emptiness that allows us to see beyond our vision, hear beyond our audible frequency.
